Hello Friends, we are well into February and only now I am posting our mini Winter tour of our living room. I can’t believe it is almost mid-February, 2018 is just flying by! This post has been half done for several weeks now, I am finally finishing it before Spring comes!!
I normally dread January with its cold and gloomy days. January 2018, however, had several gorgeous sunny days albeit sub zero temps. Somehow just having the sun out has brought on a sense of coziness and happiness to our home that has me enjoying the season, as long as I stay inside! π This has translated into our decor, where we are keeping some of the winter whites we brought out around Christmas, coupled with fresh greens.
When I think of winter and cozy decor, Scandinavian decor and hygge (the Danish art of creating a cozy home and lifestyle) come to mind. I am loving neutrals and white, imitating the blanket of snow outside, cozy blankets and throw pillows, and natural elements to complete our winter decor.
We have had this plant for a while, it is called Pachira Aquatica or Money Tree. I don’t know about you but I can certainly use a money tree in my house! π But seriously, I love the touch of nature it brings along with the rustic feel of the basket, similar one here, against the winter whites in the room. The art on the wall are free-printables from The Bless’er House. The frames are these ones which I painted a distressed off-white. The walls are stenciled using the Large Moorish Trellis 933L stencil from Royal Design Studio Stencils.
Here is another view of the coffee table where we left these two white fuzzy trees from Christmas that remind me of snow covered forests. I added some more candles and a little garland to finish the simple yet cozy look.
You can see in the background that our little flocked tree is still out and we have lace ferns on this awesome birch vase.
Below is a full front view of our sofa and coffee table, where you can see our little tree to the right, but this one is faux. It brings beautiful green color and natural vibes without the maintenance. See a similar one here.
We love this side of the room where I am always changing decor for the seasons. We created a little winter wonderland with pillows, pine cones and a small snake plant. We love this ottoman, it has storage and is great for seating or creating little vignettes. You can find a similar one here.
A couple of closer looks, creating little vignettes is like playing house for me, so relaxing! The cute wood cutout snowflake is from Ava Berry Lane. The “there is no place like home” pillow is from Cover Love, I love their beautiful and good quality pillows.
This ends our mini Winter tour, just in time to start decorating for Spring. Do you decorate for Winter? What are your favorite tips and ideas to create a cozy space to get through these cold months? Please share in the comments, I would love to hear from you. Stay warm and hopefully Spring is just around the corner!
